The Story

The unauthorized story of the exploits and discoveries of a rugged group of hearty Dutch-American pilgrims gathered into a congregation of seekers by expert tour guides from Dordt College, Sioux Center, IA., and bound for twelve days in the Netherlands.

Day #6--High art, great cheese, and homecoming concert

Might well have been impossible to start any higher than the royalty's own summer palace, a Baroque mansion that creates at least a half-dozen swoons per room (no pictures, please) plus a spacious manicured garden that hasn't grown a green thing out of place for centuries. Sculptures were magnificent.

Then on to a Dutch cheese farm, where a few cows get treated royally, their sweet milk hammered into cheese, aged for a time, and sold right on the farm. Sweet people with a real sense of destiny in their determined family operation. Great salesman too--we left with close to 40 pounds of Gouda.

And finally, our host and official organist returns to his home keyboard and church for a short concert and hymn sing most magnificent. A few of the gang tried their hand.

Once again, almost perfect weather.
